For the love of God... WHY??? I have two "affectionate nicknames"
for that garbage. The one that's repeatable in mixed company is
"Schlockwave-Trash". I have ripped out the plug-in from my computer's
plugin directory. I find that doing so "greatly improves my browsing
experience". Some people may miss animated ads jumping up and down all
over the page as they're trying to read an article, but I don't.

I'm sure that your response will be something along the lines of the
web-developers I've argued with. Their re-action is... but *MY* site
has "a tasteful flash intro". My reaction is that while this may be
true for *THEIR* web site, the other 99% of web sites that "use" it
actually abuse it.

A bit of web-browser history...

1) At first, only porn sites used tracking cookies. Most people don't
frequent porn sites, so they weren't concerned.

2) Then mainstream web sites started using it. People were concerned
and used heavy-handed methods to block cookies.

3) But a few websites actually needed cookies for legitimate purposes,
so a bunch of "cookie-management add-ons and utilities" were written to
allow people to *SELECTIVELY* block/allow cookies on a site-by-site
basis.

4) This ended up being used so much that cookie-management was
eventually integrated into browsers.

annoyed and used heavy-handed methods to block popups.

4) I don't see flash-blocking in mainstream browsers... yet.

Do you notice a pattern here? The questions you have ask yourself
are...
1) Is flash *REALLY* necessary for what you want to do?
2) Is your website so important that people will put with a lot of
singing/dancing garbage at a bunch of other web sites in order to view
your website?

Anybody have a webcam or microphone attached to their computer?
Right-click on any flash presentation on a website and select
"properties". Tell me what you see.
