I assume you're talking about 802.11 b or g wireless cards. Once I
stayed at a bed and breakfast where there was wireless. The host loaned
me a PCMCIA wireless card. I stuck it into my Debian laptop and it
found the network with no further action on my part.
Thinking how easy it was, I bought my own wireless card at Staples
without checking if it was supported. That was a mistake. I had to
actually go to google, find and follow instructions for how to make it
work. The instructions worked no problem, but of course there was more
too it than if I had checked what was supported.

Isn't it a pain? You actually have to google "casio cam file linux" to
find qvplay, and there's no .deb for it.

Yeah, you're definitely better off using something that adheres to
industry standards.
