Yes, if it was a design problem, something would be known about it and an
Internet search would surely find something. So if it's not handling
problems, then something in the camera (like a wrongly set low-voltage
indicator).

sony "memory stick" premature failure

produces 650 hits in Google.

I wonder if when the stick becomes full it takes longer to write, and
early removal from the camera or card reader causes the problem?
