Hi there. More questions than answers.
A great deal can depend on how you are converting from RAW to Tiff or Jpeg.
If you are just using the "Camera Default" settings, then the colours will
look dull, because that is the way these files are meant to be, so that the
full range of information is kept.
The conversion allows you to increase contrast, colour saturation,
brightness etc so that you get the sort of image you want.
The conversion options will also depend upon which program you are using to
do them. The Nikon converter which is on the Camera Cd, is in my opinion,
pretty crap. The Adobe Raw Plug Ins for Photoshop CS and CS2 are vastly
superior, and I understand that there are even better ones around.
