Yes, but the "brownout" warning is probably misunderstood by
almost all owners of the camera. Your explanation should have been
duplicated by Sony's manual. What confuses the issue is that Sony
didn't state that batteries such as NiCads or others provide limited
performance, but that they are "Batteries you cannot use with your
camera". They later add "we cannot guarantee full performance",
but is that also true for the lithium batteries? Sony needs better
effort from their technical writers.

The manual doesn't say any of this clearly enough for most readers
to have the faintest idea what is behind their warnings. But it
might easily frighten owners into purchasing the only types of AA
batteries that Sony still sells. Most people probably have no idea
how to recognize "manganese" batteries and might well try to use
them. Adding "Heavy Duty" to the list would have been helpful.
