I don't think I have to explain what it means to NikonUSA if people buy GM
gear everytime rather than official NikonUSA gear. And since GM gear is
cheaper, what is the only thing keeping people from buying it most of time.
Yep, that's right....warranty and service.

By not servicing GM gear, NikonUSA is protecting their market. And they are
not the only organization in the world that services only what they sell, or
services only that which has been purchased or acquired via their
established channels.

So, they get the established service for those things they have come by
legitimately, and they don't for those things they acquired sideways. What's
the problem? Do you really think NikonUSA wants to service the market that
is setup to specifically circumvent the rights afforded them by Nikon?

That's your opinion.

Mine is this: I sometimes buy Grey Market gear. I know I won't get Nikon
service for that gear and that is the deal I make with that devil. No
complaints, no arguments, no concern on my part. I simply don't hold it
against NikonUSA that they don't want to service gear that got to my hands
by circumventing standard Nikon regimens.

And on top of all that, it may well be that NikonUSA doesn't consider people
who buy Grey Market their "customers".
