Reading the manual for my Canon A510

I tripped across the "custom" self timer
feature.

With this I can configure the delay
to between 1 and 10 seconds.

But I can also configure how many photographs
are taken when the delay expires.

The manual makes no suggestion as to why
I would want more than 1 image.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, bracketing,

I don't know if the multiple shots are metered independently; there's certainly not a "bracketing series" option that I've seen.

That would make sense. The camera does support a "continuous mode", so I suppose this is just a delay before a semi-continuous burst.
