Reading the manual for my Canon A510 http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona510/ I tripped across the "custom" self timer feature.
With this I can configure the delay to between 1 and 10 seconds.
But I can also configure how many photographs are taken when the delay expires.
The manual makes no suggestion as to why I would want more than 1 image.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, bracketing, and multiple opportunities to get a picture in which everyone has his/her eyes open, and no dumb looks.
