Hmmm, I wouldn't really knock the AA batteries feature.
Personally, it's not for me, I prefer lighter LiIon batteries especially
since replacements are so cheap (I have the Pentax K10D). But a lot of
Pentax users like having a battery that takes AA's for travel in remote
countries and areas, so they can pop in alkaline batteries in a pinch.
Just a thought.
And I haven't seen a Pentax body that I would say is "junk". I haven't
seen the K-M/K2000D yet, but I'm hopefully it is well-built for a
lightweight camera... at least I expect it to be better than the Canon
400D, which felt flimsy to me.
