| Ray:
| I'm interested in your comment that "Lexar and SanDisk are the same
| company now". What is your reference for that comment. I was under the
| impression that Lexar were manufactured by the Micron memory folks,
the same

There is a common belief that Lexar and sandisk CFCs are mostly made in
the same factory. My own experience is that Lexar are not as reliable as
SanDisk. Even less reliable (camera lockups) are Kodak brand which I had
the unsubstantiated opinion were made in the same factory as Lexar and
Sandisk.
Even if that were true. The widely varying reliability of all 3 card
brands is such that Kodak must surly buy the floor sweepings, Lexar the
QA failures and Sandisk be the real factory output.
Many years ago in China, I got offered a thick bundle of (computer) RAM
sticks in a back street. The shed (made from car boxes) I was standing
in had a belt sander going and in a corner sat a frizzled old bird with
a miniature silk screen outfit, re badging the RAM and AMD CPUs.
I suspect Thailand may have a similar "cottage" industry for flash
cards. I now only use Kingston memory products which over the years have
proven reliability and genuine lifetime warranty.
