Re: What white balance method do you use?

Pat: I shoot RAW and small fine JPG simultaneously. I give the
clients' art directors the small fine JPG files for postion and
composition. Often I am asked to add (for example) one or two percent
magenta to an area of an otherwise useful image. For these purposes,
the RAW files are invaluable. And in an unrelated field, evidence
photography, a RAW file is a key piece of the evidence path.

When I print fine-art photos, the differences between the RAW image and
the JPG image are very noticeable. This is especially true in B&W,
where the channel splitter can create subtly nuanced shadows. RAW
images have more f-stops in them and the additional cost of the digital
processing has never been a barrier to my clients. My $0.02. ~Ray

Shoot RAW and forget about WB...
Look, shooting RAW is NOT a panacea.
Even in RAW, you have to decide on a proper WB...

I think it's clear that some of the RAW recommending enthusiasts
round
here haven't actually ever processed a RAW image in anything more
complicated than an autoprocessor. They shoot in RAW because it's
what
the big boys do :-)

eh, hem,... sorry, but most of the "big boys" shoot jpg. They shoot
it right the first time and avoid the post-processing time/work.
