It's simply not the tool for this. P&S camera's do a little of both, but
both not very good. If you want to shoot movies, buy a camcorder. Nowadays
they're hardly expensive and the quality supersedes *any* movie that's been
made with a P&S.
With stereo sound and even HD compatibility, there's something for everyone.
You don't use a truck to go racing and use your Lamborghini to haul dirt, do
you?
I was referring to the same phenomenon, if P&S can do it, what is the
difficulty in extending the same feature to dSLRs? One is only asking
for VGA resolution video, not the max resolution of the sensor.
Regarding your view on cams: like I mentioned, the optics are not as
good. Though resolution wise the GS 57, a cam corder which I have, is
better; the image quality of the video taken by the S3IS is better
quality, much sharper. The GS 57 visuals are always soft. HD cams will
offer higher resolution, but the sharpness will not be at par at the
same price point.
It is strange you use the Lamborghini to refer to the dSLR, since
Lamborghini started off making tractors which obviously haul dirt. If
people can term cars from a tractor vendor as "flashy", then there is
hope for a video shooting feature in dSLRs.
