Live view is like autofocus. It could save you from producing dozens
of useless shots as AF does in some situations compared to manual
focus. I was in downtown Toronto last night and there was a throng of
photogs shooting some film festival celebs. If any had had live view,
they'd have found their jobs far easier. Another 1.5" of reach above
the heads of those in front of you is a benefit.
Live view is nothing like AF. Unless my 80-400mm lens is on a tripod, I'm
not going to hold it out in front of me. The AF, however, will be on
whether I'm handholding it or it's on a tripod. The only time I'll probably
turn AF off is for macro, which also happens to be one rare situation where
I may use live view.
