I remember being vilified on here when I dared post about a new Canon
DSLR with a full frame sensor and 12.8 MP two weeks before it was
officially announced. The serial liar Steven M Scharf (sms) accused
me of not telling the truth - spot the irony! That only made me laugh.

Why?

Because I had a Canon EOS 5D sitting on my desk as I typed. And two
weeks later came the official announcement from Canon. I'm still
waiting for Sharf's apology.

You may be in for a long wait. When such things are pointed out,
he has a tendency to KF the messenger (or at least say that he has),
and then make similar accusations if you persist. Earlier this
month when I provide a quote from an Energizer PDF file that
contradicted what he was then saying about USB battery chargers, he
accused me of fabricating the quote when he found a different
Energizer PDF file that lacked the quote. He soon discovered his
mistake, either by reading my response quoted in other people's
messages, or (more likely) was actually reading my messages. Rather
than apologize, he simply said indicated that he knew more than
Energizer, and that they must have forgotten to correct their
mistake. :)
