Personally subjective:

I will never willingly buy another Sony device with card storage until
they drop their proprietary MemoryStick and join the standard of SD.

The Sony A100 can use either its proprietary memory stick OR a regular
compact flash card. I'm using CF.


I have the Nikon D40x and I love it. My kit came with the 18-55 and
55-200VR lenses. You'll want the VR version lenses on any telephoto.

I was looking at the D40 and D40x, the I preferred the Sony because it had
the Vibration Reduction/image stabilization/anti-shake built into the
camera. Thus, you can use any AF Minolta lens. In contrast, VR/IS lenses
are very expensive for similar performance.
