After about a month or so, an attempt to open CS2 gave me the following
information:
"Username, Organization, or Serial Number is missing or invalid.
Photoshop cannot continue and must exit".

The first time this happened, I reinstalled the program, re-validated it
on line, and all was well - for another month or so. Now, it has done
the same thing again.

Is this the continuing pattern I have to expect from this software, or
is there something I have overlooked?

It happens, I had a similar problem for a time. In my case
the root problem was the worthless piece of trash from
Norton that was screwing up the Adobe License Manager
software from time to time.

I ended up re-installing the OS plus a proper AV program
(Avast! in my case) before reinstalling CS2. That was two
years ago and I've had no issues with it since then.
