Manfrotto/Bogen = near junk

Manfrotto is better than the plastic crud out there like Slik, no
doubt, but it has it's own major issues.
I've never seen a product that was as crude as their heads. They must
make them in cottage metal casting industries dotted about the
Southern Italian countryside. Keeping them working correction (to
avoid binding or slack spots in the rotation, set-screws coming lose,
etc, is a major undertaking. Comparing their stuff to something like
Gitzo is like comparing a Kodak P&S to a Canon FF. The only saving
grace about Manfrotto is that it is metal and it is cheap, other than
that, a guy with Nicholson file and a blindfold could make better
bearing surfaces than the ones of their products.
