make them in cottage metal casting industries dotted about the
Southern Italian countryside. Keeping them working correction (to

bearing surfaces than the ones of their products.

Funny, but I've never had a binding problem with Manfrotto tripods in the 13
years I've used them.
Their carbon fiber tripods are quite nice, as well...
