Everybody, even the overly positive reviewers, mention noise
almost like a mantra.

Basically noise is tone of the few parameters of image quality that is
measurable, it's my guess that ithat s why there is so much emphasis on
noise. It's just an easy way to see which is "better" than which. But
would you choose a car over another because one uses 12,2 liters per
100km, and the other 12,4? Overall the differences between noise in
camera's are exaggerated and blown out of proportion.

Also, in real life noise is not so important; for looking at (resized)
images on screen it's unimportant, and in print, noise can disappear or
it can even make images look better (!) in my experience. (a little bit
of noise, that is) It's also something that you can work around, in many
cases... a cheap tripod can be enough to get rid of noise forever,
depending on if you shoot static subjects, of course. In some cases just
exposing right can be enough to make noise much less apparent. Some
camera's also have very ugly noise and some have nicer-looking noise...

I use iso 100 almost always, and I find noise to be a total non-issue. I
use the E1 and E330. The test-images I have seen so far from E410 (not
many though) indicate that it has less noise than both of my camera's,
at high iso.

From the camera's you mention the E410 with the 14-54 lens (or 12-60)
would be my choice I think. Personally I would probably get the E510,
not for the stabilizer, but for the fact it uses the battery that I
already own two of. But I plan to get the E1 successor when it arrives.

PS: live view is extremely useful. People who say it is a gimmick are
clueless.
