The clock speeds are always slower than Pc's, do top of the line Macs(speed
wise) match up with TOTL PC's? The prices for Macs seem higher, too. Are
they worth it? I have limited experiance with Macs, but I'm looking at them.
Steve,
Whatever you do, pay no attention to bmoag's anti-Apple rants. He
doesn't know what he's talking about concerning Apple hardware, how OS X
works, and what software is available.
I suggest you ask about Macs and photo work on the Mac Tools forum at
www.dpreview.com. You'll be able to get good information that's relevant
to your needs. Another good forum is http://forums.macresource.com/.
There are a number of photographers on that board too.
I use a G5 2.0GHz Dual and I'm completely happy with it for all purposes
including photo editing. The new Intel iMacs and laptops have been
getting very good reviews. Intel-chip towers are not out yet. I'm sure
you can get a Windows machine that will suit your needs but I won't
advise you on that since I don't pretend to know about them.
