Re: OT: Anyone know of a Free news service that supports Outlook Express

Today J. Clarke commented courteously on the subject at hand

have you thought of another alternative? dump outhouse
depressed and get a real news reader. plenty are free,
support yenc and multi-part binaries, and decode 3-5
times faster. other than being slower and crappier, what
else do you like about outhouse depressed?

The OP's main issue is that his ISP has stopped running
an NNTP server. If you know of a news reader that will
work without a server at all I'd like to find out.

I can read, but I was responding to the OPs strident
insistance on OE. As to free NSPs, ya gets what ya pays
for. Go back and read the OP "... any of you good folks
know of a good /free newsfeed that'll work with OL
/Express/".

I'm sorry, but I don't see how abandoning Outlook Express
is going to solve his problem. What news service do you
believe that he could access with some other product that
he cannot access with OE?

You're missing my point. I don't really care about an OP that
insists on "good /free" and wants the world - that is what
/paid/ NSPs do very well. I was and am making the point that
anyone serious about Usenet will dump outhouse depressed - and
fast. I can't count the number of binary NGs that flame people
for posting in yEnc. Why? 'Cuz the outhouse depressed people
can't see them, won't install a plug in, and wont' switch to an
efficient reader
