And the reality is that as their platform market share dwindles around

they're walking a VERY fine line. Jumping into the Windows world is an
insurance policy for Apple hardware should the downward trend in people
chosing to use the Mac OS platform continue. Mke no mistake about it -
this
isn't some clever marketing strategy - this is street survival for them.
<cough> Bull***!
Perhaps you'd like to explain how they're going to continue to sell boxes if
no body is using the OS? (other than by jumping to XP)
* Apple can do everything vista can, and it can do it now - when the
reality is that the primary function of an OS is to provide a host
environment to the apps that run on it - and in that respect the Apple OS
CANNOT run the majority of programs written for windows - so the
statement
is false.
OS X can't run *any* Windows software - it's not Windows. DUH!
So you'd agree that it's incorrect for someone to say "MacOS 10.x can do
everything Vista can, and it can do it now"?
* That Windows boxes are virus collecters - when the reality is that
it
you follow simple rules like not opening eMail attachments that were
unexpected then you can run quite happily for years without even using
anyform of anti-virus protection (like I have)
You don't have to open attachments or even read an infected e-mail.
If you keep up-to-date with updates you'd have to TRY pretty hard to get
infected if you're sitting behind any kind of firewall or even NAT
router/modem (which is the majority of people these days). I've been in this
industry since before there was even an industry and I've yet to be infected
with a virus in recent time - and I don't even use an anti-virus product.
I've got hundreds of clients using PCs - I route their eMail through an ISP
who does virus scanning, and for them viruses are virtually a thing of the
past (probably only see 1 or so a year).
* That Windows boxes are insecure - when the reality is that updates
are
released (and automatically downloaded and installed if one so wishes)
before it gets to be a problem for the vast majority (unless they spend
most
of their time accessing high-risk sex sites)
It's not just porn sites that are distributors of viruses and spyware.
You're quite right. It's porn sites and hack sites.
* That Windows systems aren't very stable - when the reality is that
(barring any hardware issues) it's EXTREMELY stable - as was it's
predecessor - and IT'S predecessor.
XP is far from stable.
Run on WHQL certified hardware, and using WHQL certified drivers, XP is
EXCEPTIONALLY stable. Anyone having stability issues should look at changing
their vendor, or stop trying to save a dollar by purchasing 3rd rate no-name
hardware.
