Today Rich commented courteously on the subject at hand

I read that, I read dpreview.com, and I lurked here all year, to
name just 3 sources. I look at and absorb lab testing, but take
it with a grain of salt. How many competitive cameras are there
in the Rebel or D70 market niche? A dozen? Here on this NG, the
religious Canon vs. Nikon wars get ludicrous.
I take /real/ pictures, I don't evaluate color balance, dynamic
range, sharpness, or noise using test equipment. I evaluate it
by taking pictures.
It wasn't a month ago right here that a group of people said the
Rebel XT was top-of-the-heap for quality and low noise, while
the Nikon D70s was a POS. If you search long enough, you can
find some test somebody did somewhere at some time on any
camera, and conclude from it whatever floats your boat.
