Not a smoking gun...not by a longshot. It smacks of too much of 'me

Personally having admined online message boards before, I'll give the
site admin a huge benefit of the doubt given how much abuse occurs in
public forums.

Sure, if you're a canon user it all looks "fine". It's when you see how much nikon and olympus bashing is freely allowed vs people getting banned who don't bow down to the EOS gods...

Do you have links to threads in the Nikon and Olympus forums where Canon users have criticized the Nikon and Olympus cameras, then got abusive, but not been banned?

Pretty close to a personal threat, this jerk e-mailed me, asked for my
address so he could come kick my ass! Why would anyone who doesn't own or
use an olympus or a sigma spend 3/4 of their time in those other forums
posting pictures from his canon and telling them how BAD their cameras are?

Looks like he splits his time harrassing olympus users, sigma users and then promoting canon products? Yea he's not a troll.... yet has he been banned?

This is another typical post from this canonite.

Yet he'll never be banned, too good for canon's sales..

You might want to read the rules yourself because technically, someone could make a good cause to ban you http://www.dpreview.com/forums/rules.asp?forum=1000 It always amazes me every time someone complains how a privately owned and run business doesn't treat them them "right." It was that attitude that helped destroy the manufacturing capabilities of this once great country with the invention of unions.

Not really. Even in the 1930s Ford workers earned much more than the
average skilled person, because Henry wanted them to buy his cars.
What helped kill your production base was the constant and annoying
American need to get things ever cheaper. You've got losers here who
will spend a day lurking around the internet and risk getting ripped
off to save $20 on a $1000 camera. Hence Walmart, $10 golf shirts and
$250B going to China every year.

You have a good point, and this is the other (important) part the equation. Although, I'm not sure which drives which: The consumer's desire of more for less, or the manufacturer's greed for [too much] profit. To be honest, I see both happening, perhaps in equal measures.

I think in the Walmart case, there's no doubt it's the latter. I don't know if you saw that Frontline on PBS about Walmart's business practices. I've never been in a Walmart and after watch that documentary, I never will - that thing made me sick. Someone needs to take that company down and I don't care how they do it.
