Thank you everybody for good advice. I noticed Ilfochrome material is quite
a bit more expensive, but I previously thought RA4 would require temperature
controlled processing, i.e. ~~ 40 degC 104 degF conditions. I did not even
know room temperature chemicals exist for that. I thought I would need to
choose between easier processing vs. material cost.
I think this clarified the situation completely for me. I will try the
Tetenal kit - most likely already quite soon, since no additional equipment
purchases are necessarily required. I think I would like to have a
processing drum at some point, too, but it is good that I won't need a very
expensive temperature controlled one.
I could not find any online information about this Tetenal room temp
processing, so I wonder if anybody could clarify the following questions
that came into my mind, before I buy the kit.
What is the processing temperature then more accurately (20 degC = 68 degF,
24 degC = 75 degF?) and allowed tolerance regarding that? Can I compensate
temperature offsets with processing time as can be done in B&W processing?
How many processing steps/chemicals are required - how many trays do I need?
Do the chemicals come as powder or concentrate? For how long can I expect
the working solutions to remain usable when stored? I think I won't be doing
this so often - or very many prints at a time. Maybe something like max. 5
to 10 prints at a time, twice a month or so for starters.
How about the final rinse/wash of the prints - can I expect about the same r
equirements/time as with B&W RC paper?
