For my iguana cage, which is currently about 150gallons (homemade, and
he'll need a bigger one soon!), I have overhead heat wired down to the
top of the age to keep cats from setting the house on fire, and under
his ramp up ho his browsing shelf, I have the largest size T-Rex Cobra
Heatmat. I got it for $31 at www.reptiledirect.com. I use a smaller
one in my snake tank, and both of them work great without ever getting hot
enough to burn my babies. I highly recommend them over heating pads...
because they warm the fixtures rather than themselves or the air, there's
much less risk of a fire, and hey can be placed directly in the tank on
bottom, top, or sides. You might also consider a warm mist machine.
For our iggy,we have a large pool of water that sits on a heating pad
so that he has warm, moist air all the time.
