Any trainers?

We are thinking about teaching our dog the trick we see on T.V. you
throw something off a running dock and the dog jumps into the water
for the item. Then they are judge on far the jump was. Our dog is
german shepherd , collie and he loves to swim and he runs very fast.
We have the pond but dont know how to start this. We dont even know
the name of the item they fetch. Guess I can go to the pet store for
that one. But is anyone into this that can give us some pointers? Our
dog, Tankers, would do very well with that. Thanks, dogheaven
