She was given Alizine the day after my lad got her then 24 hours afterYou could probably search the
internet to see what they use these days to halt a pregnancy.
Estrogen or some sort of estrogen derivative is probably what they used
back
then. Problem is that there is a specific time windown when it is
effective - after the eggs have been released from the ovary and before
she
goes out of heat. If no one checks for the concentration of progesterone
to
see if the bitch has ovulated, then there is a chance that it was given
too
early, and therefore won't work.
Prostaglandin F2Alpha is a safer option than Estrogen. It stops
progesterone production, and terminates the pregnancy. I believe it is
typically given within a month after mating (so a pregnancy can be
positively diagnosed and the pups reabsorbed), but in theory at least,
can
be given at any time.
Suja
that.
38 days ago. She's booked in for a scan in the morning. If she IS in
whelp,
I don't think I could go through getting rid of them so late on although
I'll go over it with the vet.
My vet doesn't THINK the Alizine would damage the developing pups but
she's
going to check with the manufacturer. I can't believe I was so damn
careless
Mmm - maybe I've got that spelling wrong - according to Wiki "Alizine is a
medicine used to counter an allergic reaction in Klingons."
Beam me up Scotty :-)
