My lad caught one of my girls when she was in season. I didn't want to
mate her that season so I took her to the vet and he gave her an injection
with a second 24 hours later.
Her season ended abruptly 2 days later (in that he totally lost interest
and she stopped baiting him)
This was 38 days ago.
I've noticed her nipples are still large and pink and I think she's in
whelp despite the injections.
If she is, how likely is it that the injections have harmed the pups?
What will she be have injected with? (Yes I'll ask my vet but it's an
emergency service now until Monday morning).
Anyone any experience of this? Is 38 days too late to do anything about
the pups? (It wouldn't be a major disaster if she had the pups but I don't
want to put her through it and then have to have the pups down because
there's something wrong with them or to put her through a caesarean
unnecessarily)
Should point out that I realise I was careless in the extreme in letting him
get her. I only left them together for a few seconds as I was swapping pens
and I was right there with them and in the time it took me to turn round,
wham bam he was tied. Believe me I'm berating myself for it more than
anyone. My main concern now is doing what is best for her.
