My dogs parents were imported from Germany and are registered down to the

some of the finest and purest breed dogs on the planet, so don't go
referring to my dogs as doodle dogs, whatever the hell that is. There
are backyard breeders, then there are breeders who breed for show, but
that is a subject or later discussion, if you wish.

Okay, no offense, but German dogs aren't magically more "pure" or better
than any other dogs. I've had Dobermans for 25 years. I've had and known
American lines. I've known pure German dogs, I currently own 2 dogs of
mixed German/American ancestry. While I personally love my German mix dogs
and will choose to go European (but not necessarily German) again, that
doesn't at all mean that all German dogs are great. In fact, a lot of
German and European breeders sell their cull dogs over here to dupes for
huge amounts of money. If I was looking at your dogs, I'd be asking what
kind of titles and health tests those import parents have, not their
Nationality.

As far as Eukenuba dog food...I wasn't aware that it was produced by
IAMS. I will investigate and find out if it is indeed a better quality
dog food. If so, I may change to it. I simply want the best.

I feed Euk Premium Performance. I like the coat, condition, muscling, and
stamina I get on it. I have dogs who are sprinters--I do agility, rally,
schutzhund. The needs of dogs such as Melinda's, who need to have
tremendous endurance, is different.

When you are speaking of german dogs, are you speaking of East german line,
West german line, or Czech line? Some are bred more for working, as in K9
capacity, while others are bred more for companionship. I am referring, of
course, to GSDs.

The parents were imported from Germany; they weren't already here as
"german" dogs. The breeder that I bought from went over personally and
brought these dogs over. From what I understand, it costs around three
grand to do that, not counting the purchase price. This is my sixth german
shepherd dog, and, yes, I stepped up quite a bit to get her. She's
beautiful. Check out some of my other posts, though...I believe you'll get
a better idea where I stand on the idea of purebred dogs. And I take no
offense, either. I run into this all the time. As soon as I say I prefer
purebred dogs, some will immediately call me out, like I am a snob and feel
I am better or something along those lines, when nothing could be further
from the truth. Sure I prefer purebred dogs, and there are genuine reasons
for that (see earlier post), but I like all dogs. I've had several mixed
breeds and they've been wonderful pets--I just didn't buy them. They were
already here and needed a home, so I gave them one.

So you have dobies, huh? Those are beautiful animals. I'm a GSD person
myself, but I could appreciate dobes, too. I had a Great Dane for almost
six years, too. Now, that was quite a big boy!
