If you mean USB drivers and USB ports, you might need to go into the
control panel, hardware manager, and delete the old mass storage device
drivers. When you reinsert the USB cable, it should prompt you for an
install disk, or you might be able to install automatically with generic
Windows drivers.

I have a card reader that works fine on the USB ports on the computer,
but when I plug it into a USB hub (that is part of a board I designed),
it asks for the install disk and will not install automatically, even
though the driver is obviously already in the computer. Yet a new 4G
thumb drive works just fine.

So you might try plugging the card reader into a different USB port. And
sometimes a shutdown and restart is required for USB.

I bought this computer used refurbished. They came with no install disks.
I bought a thumb drive, and it was more modern than the computers, and I
needed to upgrade drivers. I went to the manufacturers site, downloaded
drivers according to drivers.com that was a match. And there was where my
headaches and heart aches started.
My camera does not have a card reader. It's usb port only.
