Harriet is super cooperative, so if it were a smaller procudure, I'd ask. This is apparently going to be pretty involved, though, because the tumor's firmly attached. The vet's concerned about the surgery itself, so I'm sure she won't want the added headache of a conscious dog on top of everything.
The other concern I would have is that
you're dealing with a mast cell tumor, and that the allergies are
exacerbated by it, and not the other way 'round (didn't really want to go
there, but age + breed + location makes me wonder).
I need to do more reading on that. I'll definitely discuss that with the vet. Can fatty tumors go bad in that particular way? I really should know this stuff. The funny thing is that the vet asked me if I'm a vet tech. Ha! No, just *moderately* self-educated.
