Very cool! That's what my little guy looks like but more yellow, less
orange. Were those gathered together by humans or is that some sort of
snake convention involving world overthrow?
The ones in the picture are Red-sided Garters, I think. Mine are the just
plain yellow variety as well. Well, it's a snake orgy of sorts. They den
in groups in winter, and then form mating balls. Big tourist attraction,
I'm told. More info: http://www.anapsid.org/garters2.html
I think I will call him Gunther. Given Paul's intense dislike
of snakes I've made a point of letting it be known Gunther
is in the vicinity and that severe repercussion will occur if
Gunther should end up in the mower blades somehow.
It wouldn't be Paul's fault if Gunther turned out to be a dumbass and played
chicken with the lawn mower now, would it? Oh, and don't be tempted into
grabbing Gunther or his brethren. I did that during a field zoology course,
and was rewarded with a lovely spray of 'musk'. No one would come anywhere
near me or sit near me on the bus on the way back to school (brings back
some wonderful memories).
