Therefore, they really don't care much about
the plight of dogs in general.

Well as a newbie I don't much care to step into an obviously long going
feud
(of which I don't know the history) but I have to disagree with that.

This group is like a little clique of snobs, who don't want or
appreciate
any new members.

I definitely disagree with that. I've felt welcome from my first post.

They drive people off in droves because they simply want
to have a private group. This is usenet, not some private, moderated
group.
Deal with it.

Honestly it seems just like every other newsgroup I've ever encountered.
Filled with a variety of personalities -some of who don't get along with
each other.

You are right about that, but there are a bunch of regulars who sometimes
deal harshly with newbies, especially if they come to the group with
problems and don't immediately and unquestionably follow the advice that
most of them offer. Tiny is relatively a newcomer, while I have been a
regular for about 2 years, but most of "the clique" have been here for much
longer.

If you don't rock the boat, or try to express your own opinion that differs
from the norm, you might be welcomed into their little discussions, but
beware if you rankle the feathers of some of the hens and roosters that
rule the roost. There are ongoing disagreements and outright fights among
some of the regulars, and there are sub-cliques that band together, but it
is true that the majority will exhibit "pack behavior" to discipline and
expel those who voice opinions with which they disagree.

I sometimes enjoy a good argument, and am not afraid to tell it like it is,
in my perspective, or even throw out some zingers from time to time. Some
people are frightened away, but Muttley and I are tenacious and game, so
we're still here.

Hey, it's usenet. And each of us have equal rights to use it as we see fit.
