I'm not really mad at anyone, but I have dealt with some people who have
made and continue to make bad decisions that go against realistic logic.
Now you sound like George W. Bush.. in a interview with Barbara Walters, addressing
the concerns of failing mortgages, GWB said it was because of bad decisions on the
part of the mortgage owners.
You don't think it was? Not even partly?
Did someone put a gun to those folks' heads and force them to sign
those mortgages?
He never addressed the failing jobs. Our state is one of the hardest hit in job
losses.
The current unemployment rate is currently 5.8 percent.
http://www.bls.gov/LAU/
However, the Bush unemployment rate (until the last month or so) has
been running lower than it did during the Clinton years.
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/01/bush-unemployment-at-50-bad-clinton.html
Yes, Ohio's rate is higher than most states (which it usually is), but
not much higher than it was under Clinton.
What exactly do you want the president of the US to do to make your
life in Ohio better, Diddy? Lower taxes? He's already done that.
What else should he do to reduce *Ohio's* unemployment rate? Try to
be as specific as possible.
I was furious when i heard him say that.
You were furious that he told the truth?
The sub-prime market failed because it was built on a house of cards.
The very term "sub-prime" should be a clue. I.e., these folks ain't
exactly *prime* borrowers. They had below average incomes, they put
zero or nothing down, they speculated, etc. In other words, they
tried to live beyond their means. And the bankers who made these loans
(basically without even checking the borrowers out!), and then sold
them to the secondary markets (not wanting to carry these loans on
their own books!), and Wall Street (for pushing the secondary market
so hard) are just as responsible for the bloodbath. Plus the builders
who kept building the McMansions. Plus the government who kept egging
them all on. Plus the media for helping to fuel the frenzy. Etc.
There's a lot of blame to go around.
A veritable "perfect storm" of foolishness and greed.
I got even more furious, when Barbara
Walters asked what he would like to see, and GWB said he's like to see gas prices go
UP. (Duh)
Does this sound like a guy who wants gas prices to go up?
http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2008/04/bush_no_magic_wand_for_gas_pri.html
I guess that WOULD reduce the dependence on foriegn oil.. and line the pockets of the
oil man!
Realistically, Diddy, there's only a few ways way to eliminate *our*
dependence on foreign oil, and that's to drill for more of our *own*
oil, use more nuclear energy, find ways to burn coal more cleanly,
etc. Conserve where we can, of course, but we can only conserve so
much.
On the other hand, none of that will do anything to reduce the
dependence of other countries, like China, India, Japan, etc. on
foreign oil, or do much to reduce oil prices generally. And they are
our trading partners.
Demand continues to outstrip supply, and until that equation changes,
we're stuck with high fuel prices.
Whoever becomes the next president, he or she won't be able to do much
about high fuel prices, unless Congress eventually finds a freakin'
clue (this isn't a good sign:
http://instapundit.com/archives2/018595.php
and allows more drilling, more nuclear energy, more coal to be burned,
etc.
And he or she certainly won't be able to do anything about the next
perfect storm of human foolishness and greed.
