Paul,

I don't know their circumstances nor do you but just because someone
looses their home doesn't mean it's through any fault of their own. All
it takes is one illness to cause someone to not be able to work and end
up a bad situation where they loose their home.

It doesn't sound like the case here, unless you count a mental illness that
causes them to abuse their dogs and raise a bratty kid, and not be missed
by the OP (duckster). But usually that is not so much a treatable mental
illness, which would evoke some sympathy from anyone except JH (and
probably Melinda and the Bimbettes), but it is more likely a deficiency in
family values and self-image and responsibility that are passed on from
parents to kids.

Normally one should have enough emergency savings and insurance to ride out
a glitch in their lives, and if you own a home, you should be able to rent
it out to cover mortgage payments while you live in less expensive housing
(maybe with friends and family), until you get your finances straightened
out, or find a buyer for your house. But if you don't have any friends,
and/or your family is also living on the edge, and/or you have a shaky
marriage, and/or you are in debt up to your ears, then I can understand
losing one's home. And that would usually be a direct result of someone's
own irresponsibility.
