Thanks -- I didn't know his coloring is called sable.

IIRC, blue merle poms popped about 15-20 years ago from
a breeder who also had a blue merle sheltie. According to the breeder,
the merle gene in Poms was a Mutation and had absolutely NOTHING to do
with the sheltie. Of course not, breeders never lie.


Sheltie! That makes sense. People kept guessing he was mixed with husky,
because that's the only blue-eyed dog they know. I was thinking Aussie
somewhere, but Sheltie makes more sense.
