I'm really sorry, Janet. That's awfully crappy news. Another vote for
the Yahoo Kidney group- they were wonderful when I was dealing with
renal issues in Poodle of Doom.

I echo the crappy news statement and the k9kidney vote - they were a
wonderful wealth of information when we diagnosed Jadee at just over a year
of age. I can't believe she would have been ten on Monday (St. Patrick's
Day) - it doesn't seem that long ago - Hers was congenital, too. One
basically nonexistant and one small but functioning kidney. Another BYB
situation. Nice people, but.

First thing the specialist asked me was... if she was the runt (she was) -
not insinuating all runts have health issues - there are obviously more than
one reason the runt is the runt - but she commented that sometimes the runt
is the runt because of health issues. So, just curious, is Rudy the runt of
the litter?

Rudy is fortunate to be in a home where you are willing and able to help.
If this is what it turns out to be, learn to do sub-q fluids, if you don't
already know how. (I'm betting you already know how) If you find anemia
setting in, you might want to contact Cornell. Jadee was involved in their
canine epogen study. I have no idea what the results of it were, or if they
were even fruitful, but I'd be happy to email you any information/contacts I
have on it.
