??? You're talking with a number of people here who have both cats
and dogs sleeping in bed at the same time. I also have small dogs
that like to (insist on) sleeping under the covers. My large Borzoi
(who routinely plays crush-your-head with the little guys without ever
injuring them) usually sniffs around before lying down when she gets
on the bed so she can tell exactly where everybody is. Others have
related similar experiences. What is unique about your dog or your
situation that you are so sure your dog will accidentally kill or maim
your cat?

Cooper (14 lb jrt) sleeps under the blankets and he has survived being
sat upon by adult members of the household and being flopped on by a 140
lb teenager. He's also survived what appeared to be a premeditated
attempted squishing by his arch nemesis, Zane (41 lb BC), who with
obvious malice and forethought, pounced on a suspicious lump under the
covers.

Heh. Well, there ya go. The 6 lb. cat should be fine even if the 12
lb. dog is evil like Zane.
