Re: Got my dog a ramp

Tara, you understood me correctly, so thanks. The "come" command was just an example of a command that can be overused. The example the trainer gave was that she had a student who had a dog who loved to give kisses so the owner could yell "Kisses!" anywhere anytime anyplace and the dog would run to her 100% of time because the owner would then let the dog lick her all over her face. And "kisses" is just not a word that's likely to get overused like "come" is. I was afraid I'd start overusing "heel" so I make sure I only use it during sit-down strikes.

If your dog isn't coming when called, then the answer is not to change the command to "heel" or to use the command less frequently.

That's not what she said she was doing, nor what the trainer suggested.
