No - fats are used for sustained energy. Protein builds
muscle and other tissues. Carbs don't make you fat -
consuming more calories than you burn makes you fat.
Proteins tend to be less calorie-dense than fats and some
simple sugars, which is why you might be confused about
that.

Protein will keep you from getting hungry and thus eating junk.
I have lost 35 lbs. since April with a combination of both, but it is the
protein that keeps me from feeling hungry and weak. I have about ten lbs.
more to go. If I start looking too thin, I will stop and just maintain. I
always read the back of the labels now to see how many calories and how much
protein are in the item. I could never give up carbs. I love carbs; I just
watch them and don't overdue anymore.
