It was the husband and the son in law who managed to let him get
loose. Oh they *thought* they could open up the big gates to the
yard, drive son in laws pick-up truck back into the yard, and manage
to close up the gates without that damn stubborn Merlin trying to make
a run for it. Sheesh! I could have clocked 'em both.

Heh. I can do a variation of that now, taking the lawn mower in/out of
the
yard or taking the trash out -- as long as the Schwan's guy or the local
squirrel population don't suddenly appear. But it's taken awhile to get
to
this point.

Heck, the gate's about the LAST place Ranger would get loose. He's gone
over the fence, he's tried to go under the fence, and he's pushed through
a
window screen, but he's never run through the gate without permission. Go
figure.

I want your secret! ;] Merlin and Gracie did bash out one of the screens
shortly after we moved in. Second story of the house too, found the broken
and bent up screen laying down below in the driveway. I've learned I have
to put all the windows down before going anywhere.

Luckily, knock on wood, so far Merlin has not gone over our fence, but it's
six feet tall. He's got long legs, but he's nowhere near as coordinated as
Gracie. I'm afraid since I hurt my back, my training as gone all shot to
hell. :( How about coming on down awhile and training that sassy Big Boy
for me? We have a guest room with a king size bed. ;-)
