I know I'll kick myself for asking, but BC's are?

Border collies.

Yup!

I think the stray my daughter has just taken in might have a bit of border
collie in it. We haven't been able to really *see* what she might be. Our
vet is coming next week to check out all our dogs, so perhaps he will be
able to tell us what she might be. She's a very sweet, loveable,
affectionate dog though. Definitely a *keeper*.

I just love
JRT's. They have the cutest little faces/expressions.

They're not easy dogs. They're smart but not terribly biddable.
"Because I said so" isn't a good enough reason to inspire obedience
(unlike the BCs who would attempt the vulcan mind meld trying to figure
out what you wanted).

Cooper has the cutest puzzled head tilt, and his sleepy face is adorable
but when he's being a total *** that wrinkle-faced worried look is a
dead give-a-way. "Okay, right, I just crunched down on your knuckle
when you were trying to pry the ball out of my mouth and I know you
won't crack me upside the head like I probably deserve for drawing blood
but I know I was a Bad Dog."

Ah yes, about what I expected! Sounds a bit like a tiny version of our
Merlin! One of our daughters was dog-sitting a JRT some years ago. She
brought it over to our house to visit. It about drove our poor Murphy nuts!
Acted like a great big old alpha dog. It brought a toy to my husband,
wanting to play tug of war with him. And it had the funniest little growl
as it was tugging with all its might! We just cracked up at that little
fiesty dog. Murphy tried to escape it by scooting to her normal *safe*
spot, under our bed. Murphy just barely fit under that bed, had to really
wiggle and scrunch herself just so to fit under the bed. But all the
*regular* dog visitors we had *knew* that was Murphy's sacred place and
NEVER invaded it. Well, that little jack russell flew under the bed right
behind Murphy! Hardly had to even bend it's head to fit under. Poor Murphy
came scooting back out again, looking at us as if to say WTF *is* that thing
and WHEN is it leaving?

I could tell my husband had taken a real shining to that little fiesty
terrior! Me? I just think they have the most adorable face/expressions.
