Then Window Media Player and Windows Explorer do the same thing but are
in different places?
No - WMP is an application program that's specifically
designed to manage and play digital media (video, music,
etc.). Windows Explorer is a system utility (we'd call it
an application, too, in Unix-land, but we're not in
Unix-land) that allows you to look at and manage files.
"Files" are probably analogous to documents from your
perspective. When you rip a CD, or buy online music, each
track is stored as a separate file. If you've been ripping
CDs onto your hard drive using WMP, use Windows Explorer to
take a look at \My Documents\My Music. You'll probably see
a folder with the name of an artist, and inside that folder
you'll find another folder for each album by that artist.
You can drag-and-drop any of those folders onto your MP3
player (which will show up as a device to Windows Explorer)
and it will be copied over, although obviously you can't put
more on there than there's room available.
Soar like an eagle!
