Does anyone know of a dog getting gray at an estimated 3 and 1/2 years
old? Is that common or more common in some breeds than others?
Thanks...

Hi Judy.
I adopted my GShep Mix (BC?) from the local shelter when he was 9
months old. He started graying around the muzzle at roughly 2. I also
have a Belgian Tervuren who just turned 2 and he has what they call
"frosting" on the end of his muzzle. It is normal for the Terv to get
that graying and they mention it in the breed's standard. And yes, it
is much more common in certain breeds. I work for a veterinarian and I
saw a Saluki who was 17 1/2 with barely a gray hair on him. The gray
hairs on my boys just makes me appreciate them a little more every
day. It reminds me that they aren't around nearly as long as we humans
are. I love them all the more for it.
