You post to the cat groups?!?
Yeah, but just health&behavior.
Yikes. Maybe its changed.
You are a braver woman than I
Ha! I have a thick Usenet skin (and a very large killfile). There
are some good, knowlegeable people there. Once you cut through the
asshats it's a good group. They have really helped me with the
kitten. He swallowed a latex teat within the first few days (I was
bottle feeding him) and then he turned up FHV positive. I credit
their help with getting him through the worst of it because I had an
idiot vet at the time who did a lot of head scratching.
I also try to help out where I can, and it's a lot more than I can do
here. It's just really hard not to slam all the dumbasses who have no
business owning cats.
I was there for a few months aseveral years ago. Got into what I thought
was going to be a debate about whether or not certain things should be
legislated or just educated against (I was for the latter, and the topic
was declawing). Since I wasn't jumping on the bandwagon of "Ban it Or
Else", I was branded (of course) an abuser (not that any of my cats ever
have been, or would ever be declawed).
Then, I apparently stepped in the middle of Battle of the Barfers vs.
the Commercial Foodies. That's when *** really started flying. The
personal attacks on me were fast and furious. The likes of which I have
never once seen here. Since I wasn't getting a whole lot of help with my
cats health issues anyway (it was a dietary health concern, so asking
questions of both sides of the debate were what got me in "the middle",
I guess), I decided those people weren't worth it.
And then, because I guess they weren't done some of the newsgroup old
time divas followed me all the way over here. I think that lasted a few
weeks.
I learned my lesson. Might have changed over the years (and that would
be a very good thing), but I think I'll stick with the dog people.
Believe it or not, I find this place is positively chummy and hospitable
compared to those people.
Sorry to hear about Levis little teat issue though. Glad he was ok.
