As I'm sure you know, there is no proof for any scientific theory.
The theories of gravitation, plate tectonics, relativity, mechanics (motion),
quantum mechanics, electricity and magnetism, atomic theory, etc. have
exactly the same status as the theory of evolution.

They are all couched within the same Western scientific determinism
that many detractors complain about; they have all been tested
according to the same protocol.

I've never figured out why evolution gets singled out for so much
attention from religious literalists. The Big Bang theory, for
example, is just as much in conflict with a literal interpretation of
Genesis. So is just about all of geology, as well as gravitation (planetary
motion).
