A more serious answer than you were expecting: I think it stems from a
pretty serious self-loathing. There's something very wrong about
choosing to invent publicity causes to vilify just about everyone
instead of quietly doing the real work of bettering the lives of others
(regardless of species). I can't blame Singer, et al, for Newkirk
because I think she'd use any handy justification. Might as well blame
Marx for her "end justifies the means" mindset. SBD I blame on
pre-natal exposure to toxic waste.
