I'd be hard-pressed to think of another time in the past
century when the political discourse in the US was dominated
by a faction that was so resolutely anti-science and
anti-Enlightenment. And what we've seen in the past 5 years
or so is that when something is being labelled "junk
science" it's generally pretty sound and is being derided
for political reasons. Granted that the pendulum swings,
but it's currently swung to a particularly dumb-assed point
in the arc.

But then, if Jerry is indeed correct, its exactly those emotionally
needy that need the manipulative correction to find a more
correct path. It seems to me that Jerry would have to be
conclusively wrong to deserve the label "fraud".

Jerry is conclusively wrong. Like, his claims violate the
laws of physics. Regardless, the emotionally needy are just
as likely to end up marrying someone they've never met in a
mass wedding in Madison Square Garden presided over by the
Rev Sun Myung Moon as they are to get their problems sorted
out. More likely, if you believe that people don't really
change except in response to shock/trauma/etc. Not all
outcomes are equally valuable, and there'd be something
immoral about exploiting someone's neuroses to further your
own material well-being while not improving theirs if you
were, in fact, responsible, and I personally believe that
Jerry is not responsible for his own behavior.

Fraud is fraud, no doubt about it - I'll be interested to
hear more detail by way of supporting the accusation.

If you were actually interested you'd look it up - we've
been around and around and around on this as long as Jerry's
been spewing into the dogs newsgroups, which I believe is
something on the order of 8 years.
