Well, I haven't shut up since 2006.
No sense in shutting up now.

This is the usual sort of thing that happens in on-line support groups
for medical conditions.  The people with the greatest motivation to
post are those for whom treatments have been a failure, leaving them
stuck with long-term problems.  If your treatment works, chances are
you'll just post a couple of messages saying "whee!  that's better!",
then go away and not talk about it since you now have your life back.

I haven't posted to a depression support group for years.  I once had
it very severely, but normal medication with antidepressants sorted it
(and I'm not taking any medication for it any more).  The people who
are still posting (apart from the trolls) are either new sufferers or
the small minority for whom nothing has helped.  And they can develop
some enormous grudges after years of treatment failure or catastrophic
side-effects (much more so in the US, where an inevitable side-effect
of long-term medical treatment is that you get reduced to beggary).

So, Matthew can safely ignore the kind of post Jane's making.
Jack Campin,

I am quite sure Matt will ignore it, but he is not nearly as nosy as I
am.
This person has been and is involved in indirectly related support
groups, but they are not only depression-topiced.
Depression is not one of my issues, and you have seen in the past
few days what rattles my cage bars into spouting out in our cat
group. Yes, Granby, I shut up here while others are seeking support
and "purrs" for their issues. We are ntot all requiring support. But
Jack is correct that Jane's post is born from her own misery and I
(against my nature) don't believe she meant it as a stab at Matt or
what
e has chosen to have as surgery. As wounded animals cry out in pain,
some of the posts like that one are simply outlets for people's
frustration
and unhappiness.
You have to also remember that *my* post above is from someone who
is not a hot personal appearance, but who really doesn't give a ****
what
anyone else thinks of it (no one has ever said one word to me about my
weight or clothing....are you surprised> LOL).
Therefore, let us pllease try to empathize with Jane, and not assume
she
launched a negative attack on Matt's progress.
Granby? Did you check out all the dancing cats?
